Step into a slice of Singaporean heritage at Ya Kun Kaya Toast, where timeless traditions meet comforting flavours. Renowned for its iconic kaya toast, this beloved café offers a uniquely Singaporean experience that has captivated generations.
At Ya Kun, the secret lies in the meticulous preparation: each thin slice of bread is toasted to a perfect dark brown and crisp, consistently delivering that signature crunch. Paired perfectly with their velvety smooth kaya (coconut jam) and a generous slab of butter, it’s a symphony of textures and tastes. Complete your authentic meal with perfectly soft-boiled eggs and a robust cup of traditional kopi (coffee) or teh (tea).
More than just a meal, Ya Kun provides a charming, retro-ambience escape, inviting you to slow down and savour the moment. It’s a place where kinship, friendship, and simple pleasures are celebrated, making it the ideal spot for a quick, satisfying bite or a leisurely catch-up. Experience the consistent quality and nostalgic charm that makes Ya Kun Kaya Toast a true Singaporean institution.
They have relocated in Bedok Mall. However, service is still sloppy as they do not clear tables of patrons who have finished eating but are still occupying the seats while using their phones. This results in many customers being unable to dine in. On a weekday at 3 PM, many customers are just occupying seats with finished food and drinks.

Ya Kun Kaya Toast at Bedok Mall is a popular café, known for its traditional Singaporean breakfast. They serve delicious kaya toast with butter, soft-boiled eggs, and aromatic kopi or tea. The cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot for a casual meal any time of day. Besides the classic kaya toast, they also offer a variety of other dishes, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Here's the edited review:
"At the Bedok Mall branch, the whole experience was disappointing. I ordered a set of kaya peanut toast and couldn't even taste the kaya nor the peanut. The spread was extremely thin and only on one side of the bread. It wasn't properly done, and the bread was crushed on all sides. The cup of coffee was so small, like a child's portion. All in all, prices have increased and standards have dropped drastically."

The middle-aged lady cashier had an attitude. At the Bedok outlet today, I ordered toast, but to my dismay, it had no kaya and tasted extremely dry. I approached the cashier twice to provide feedback, but the staff—a man with curly long hair and a woman standing beside the cashier—simply ignored me and stared without responding. I even showed them the toast and expressed my concern, mentioning that your coffee and toast are not cheap, yet the quality was lacking. Despite this, they took no initiative to add kaya or replace the toast, which was very frustrating.
Additionally, the uncle with white hair, who prepared my toast and sometimes prepares the drinks, was once again using his mobile phone while handling food. I have noticed this behavior multiple times during my visits. Even though he was wearing gloves, it is unhygienic to handle food and a personal phone simultaneously.
I would like to understand if this is the standard of service and hygiene that Ya Kun upholds. A simple request to apply kaya should not be ignored, and food safety should be a priority. I hope you will take this matter seriously and ensure that your staff are properly trained in customer service and hygiene.
* I'm not the only customer who has given this feedback: there is no kaya on the toast. Is this called kaya butter toast, or just butter toast? Where is the kaya? Please refer to the photo. Another customer, SAM OK, gave the same feedback two months ago!

$3.30 for a cup full of ice and a few sips of iced lemon tea, and the coffee is never good anymore unless the old uncle makes it. The standard is just never there if the younger workers are doing it, or maybe they just don't care to change the grounds enough.
