Encik Tan at Bedok Mall serves as a pioneering destination for halal-certified Chinese hawker cuisine, strategically located at Level B1 (#B1-41/42) where this innovative concept brings together the beloved flavors of traditional Singapore Chinese dishes with religious dietary compliance that ensures accessibility for the Muslim community. This specialized restaurant represents a thoughtful adaptation of classic hawker favorites, transforming dishes like Fish Ball Noodles, Wanton Noodles, Hainanese Curry Rice, and Claypot Rice into halal-certified offerings without compromising the authentic flavors and preparation methods that have made these dishes integral to Singapore's culinary heritage. Operating as a halal-certified mini food atrium concept, Encik Tan bridges cultural and religious boundaries by making traditional Chinese hawker fare available to diners who previously had limited access to these iconic Singapore dishes, demonstrating the inclusive spirit that characterizes Singapore's evolving food landscape and multicultural dining scene.
The carefully curated menu at Encik Tan Bedok Mall focuses on delivering authentic Chinese hawker experiences through a thoughtfully selected variety of signature dishes that represent the most beloved items from traditional Chinese stalls across Singapore. The restaurant's specialization in Fish Ball Noodles and Wanton Noodles showcases their commitment to preserving the delicate balance of flavors, textures, and presentations that define quality hawker cuisine, while their Hainanese Curry Rice and Claypot Rice demonstrate their ability to handle more complex dishes that require precise timing and technique. Despite offering a deliberately focused menu that prioritizes quality over quantity, each dish reflects meticulous preparation standards and authentic flavor profiles that have earned positive customer reviews praising the food as "well prepared" and representing genuine local fare. The affordable pricing structure, with most dishes priced around S, ensures that quality halal Chinese cuisine remains accessible to families, students, and working professionals seeking both value and authenticity in their dining choices.
What sets Encik Tan Bedok Mall apart from conventional food court offerings is their unique positioning as a specialized halal Chinese hawker concept that addresses a significant gap in Singapore's dining landscape while maintaining the authentic flavors and casual atmosphere that define traditional hawker culture. The restaurant's air-conditioned environment provides enhanced comfort compared to traditional hawker centers, while the consistent quality and religious compliance create a reliable dining option for Muslim families and individuals seeking familiar Chinese flavors. The strategic location within Bedok Mall's basement level food court ensures easy accessibility for shoppers and residents, while the lunch rush popularity indicates strong community acceptance and appreciation for their concept. This combination of cultural bridging, religious accommodation, authentic preparation, and convenient accessibility has established Encik Tan Bedok Mall as an essential destination that demonstrates how Singapore's hawker heritage can evolve to serve the nation's diverse population while preserving the culinary traditions and flavors that define the country's unique food culture, making it possible for all Singaporeans to enjoy the dishes that unite the community across cultural and religious boundaries.
Very bad service at this restaurant.
Food was served in very small portions. Eat at your risk. Too many complaints, yet no service recovery has been done. Not worth eating here. Encik Tan sucks big time.

Only reviewing the char kuay teow.
A perfect example of what food inflation has come to: 2 prawns, 4 slivers of fish cake, and half an egg for SGD 5.50.
Admittedly, the fish cake slivers were tasty; that was largely the main highlight. The portion was also excellent for weight loss goals.
Conclusion: Stick to the curry rice set next time.

Their bestselling CKT was a total rip-off: no wok hei and it hardly tasted like CKT. The portion was not enough for even a child. Encik Tan used to be my favourite. Now that they are famous, prices have gone up, which is okay, but the standard and quality have dropped many times more. I will not eat at ET anymore. Do not eat their CKT.

A total turnoff. I was looking for a seat and saw a few trays on the table. I shifted them aside as I merely needed two seats. The rude auntie scowled, spoke in Chinese, and shouted, "Don't anyhow shift hor!" She also gave me a hard stare. The table next to the tray station had been converted by her into a tray collection area. If so, please state it with a sign!
I told my child these are not meant for dining trays. Nevertheless, I am turned off by her attitude. I'll not be back anymore.
Boss will employ you for scolding his customers. Not bad👏👏👏💨

Encik Tan offers a variety of foods, just like a mini food court. The curry rice looks interesting. But I was there for claybopt rice. It tasted pretty good. However, there were too few ingredients for 6.50.
