Worst experience ever. I waited 10 minutes for a tuna toast during morning peak hour. I was rushing for work, and this was unexpected, as I had thought they would speed up the process during peak hour.
Despite telling her, she continued interacting with her other colleagues and taking her own sweet time. Never coming back.

I placed my order here on 1 May at ~1030am. The female short-haired counter staff who was a little plump was so rude. She told the drink staff to make yuan yang kosong when I ordered yuan yang c kosong. When I corrected her, she said, "At Toast Box, yuan yang is yuan yang c." Huh?? Yuan yang kosong means coffee and tea only, without evaporated milk. What a rude and ignorant staff!

150125. My $10.20 lunch included the $7.20 Mee Siam, which was not what I expected. The gravy was a bit thick and nutty, like a cross between Mee Siam and Satay sauce. It wasn't the likable, local, slurpable, sour-sweet kind. A medium-sized coffee was also a bit pricey at S$3. The place is always crowded with retirees.

I hadn't eaten at Toast Box in a long time, and I was surprised by the price of the food. Compared to other similar cafes, the bread is only half the size. Also, when asked to switch from butter to peanut butter, you must top up. To get the multigrain variant, you must also upgrade your bread type; otherwise, you will be given white bread. You're almost spending Starbucks prices for a mediocre breakfast. I do not expect to return.

Sometimes It's Too Toasty
Toast Box at Bedok Mall is a staple for those looking for traditional Singaporean breakfast items or a quick bite. The food offerings are generally solid, with the usual suspects like soft-boiled eggs, kaya toast, and laksa meeting expectations. These classic dishes are consistently good and are a safe bet if you're in a hurry or just looking for a familiar taste.
However, the limited-edition or newer menu items can be a bit hit-or-miss. While it's great that Toast Box tries to innovate, these experiments don't always land. If you're someone who enjoys trying something new, just be aware that not every new dish is a guaranteed winner. I tried their new fried mee tak mak and found it a bit too oily and lacking in "wok hey".
One issue I've also encountered is the seating situation. Given that Bedok Mall is a busy location, it's not surprising that Toast Box gets crowded, but the layout could be improved. The bakery section seems to take up a lot of space, which could be better utilized to expand the dining area. Even during off-peak hours, finding a seat can be challenging, leading to a less-than-relaxing experience.
Another issue is that many people bring in outside food and only order tea or coffee. This is honestly very rude and should not be allowed. I wish they would put up a “No Outside Food” sign so that genuine customers could get a table.
On the bright side, the frontline staff at Toast Box are usually fantastic. They offer friendly and patient service, which can be a rare find in busy food court-style settings. Even during rush hours, they manage to maintain a positive attitude and keep things moving smoothly. However, another common issue is that some patrons sit there for hours with just a coffee, taking up valuable space that could be given to genuine customers looking for a proper meal.
Overall, Toast Box at Bedok Mall is a reliable spot for a quick meal or a classic breakfast. While there's room for improvement in terms of seating and menu experimentation, the consistent quality of their regular offerings and the excellent service make it worth a visit. If you're in the area and don't mind a little wait for a seat, it's a solid choice for a casual meal.
